Tetanus cases have followed injuries considered too trivial for a visit to the doctor. The best defense is to keep immunizations up to date.

Safety Information

Tetanus and Diphtheria Toxoids Adsorbed For Adult Use is indicated for active immunization of children 7 years of age or older, and adults, against tetanus and diphtheria. Td is the preparation of choice for vaccination of all persons 7 years or older because side effects from higher doses of diphtheria toxoid are more common in this group than they are among younger children. Local adverse reactions may include
erythema, tenderness, and swelling at the injection site. Systemic reactions may include headache, malaise, and temperature elevations. Td is contraindicated in patients with
hypersensitivity to any component of the vaccine, including thimerosal. As with any vaccine, vaccination with Td may not protect 100% of susceptible individuals.
