Safety
Information
MENOMUNE®-A/C/Y/W-135 is indicated for active immunization
against invasive meningococcal disease caused by N meningitidis
seroproups A, C, Y, and W-135 in persons 2 years of age
and older. Protective antibody levels may be achieved within
7 to 10 days after vaccination. As with any vaccine, vaccination
with MENOMUNE®-A/C/Y/W-135 may not protect 100% of susceptible
individuals. ENOMUNE®-A/C/Y/W-135 will not stimulate
protection against infection caused by N meningitidis other
than serogroups A, C, Y and W-135. Local adverse reactions
may include pain, redness and swelling at the site of injection.
There is a low incidence of systemic adverse reactions including
headache, malaise, chills, and fever. Immunization with
MENOMUNE®-A/C/Y/W-135 should be deferred during any
acute illness. MENOMUNE®-A/C/Y/W-135 is contraindicated
in persons with known hypersensitivity to any component
of the vaccine (including thimerosal). MENOMUNE®-A/C/Y/W-135
is available in 10-dose vials. For individuals sensitive
to thimerosal, use the single-dose vial recontituted with
preservative-free diluent vial provided.
